Events Manager
Events Managers are the creators of all the fantastic live music events put on here at The Rhythm Hut. This is by far one of the most intensely involved roles at The Rhythm Hut, and one of the most rewarding. It requires commitment, responsibility, organisation, and a professional attitutude, and pays off generously with being able to look out on a sea of smiling faces with the knowing that you created this.
Events Managers handle everything from the initial enquiry to sending off settlements to happy artists after a successful gig. This is an unparalleled entry-level opportunity for anybody wanting to work in the music industry. Artists, agents, and managers will get to know you on a first-name basis, and your CV will be packed with references and skills.
Duties of Events Managers include:
– Maintaining the Hut’s email database
– Choosing which artists to put on (they come to us!)
– Booking dates, negotiating contracts and production
– Creating and promoting ticketing links
– Creating and promoting graphics/videos
– Listing events on various outlets, with help from marketing team
– Ensuring everything is communicated organised on the night
– Preparing and sending final settlements

Events Crew
Events Crew are the people on the ground, the ones who make everything just “work.” Every aspect of the experience at an event in The Rhythm Hut is created by the Events Crew, from the moment you walk in the door to the moment you leave. Work behind the bar if you have an RSA, set up the space if you like to decorate, make a meal if you enjoy cooking. Every part of the event is run by volunteers, and being part of it means you get to be there for free.
Events crew roles:
- Door sales
- Bar (Requires RSA)
- Food service
- COVID Marshal
- Floater
- Artist hospitality

Class Coordinators
Class Coordinators are the people responsible for organising, promoting, and taking payments for classes and workshops offered here at The Rhythm Hut.
Duties include:
- Coordinating with instructors
- Communicating with students
- Promoting classes
- Taking payments
- Tracking attendance to classes
- Assisting teachers/facilitators where needed

Admin
Admin. You either love it or you hate it.
If you’re lucky enough to be on the admin-loving end of the spectrum, then you’ll also find yourself on the receiving end of love and appreciation in all forms from the Hut crew. Admin work is one of the most important roles in maintaining a thriving community space, and one that can make all the difference in sculpting a sustainable future for The Rhythm Hut. - Maintaining databases
- Office hours (answering phones, receiving visitors, etc.)
- Responding to emails
- Updating signage/flyers around the space
- Organising venue hires
- Accounting
- Updating the Hut website
- Sending out newsletters
- Assisting events/marketing team in event listings

Maintenance / Gardening
One of the things that makes The Rhythm Hut so special is its eclectic atmosphere. Everywhere you look, there’s something interesting to see. What many don’t realise is that the space was transformed from a decaying, abandoned building back into the vibrant venue it is today through the hard work of volunteers. It’s a space that requires lots of consistent love to keep it looking beautiful, and we are always in need of extra hands to help make that happen. Woodworking, plumbing, electric, roofing, gardening, painting, you name it- whatever it is you’d like to do, we’d love for you to come and do it!
