Australian Indie-Folk duo Paddy Macrae and Zane Harris formed The Dreggs in 2017. Growing up in the Sunshine Coast with the ocean by their feet, their music is best described as Indie-Folk and Roots, with a little coastal vibe in the mix. From train-like guitar melodies with a driving beat to smooth harmonies and enchanting finger picking, The Dreggs encompass a whole range of emotion with their music.

With the release of their popular single, Give Myself To You (2017), they received a significantly positive response. Having been aired on Triple J’s ‘Roots & All’ segment a number of times, this track helped gain solid traction for The Dreggs. After receiving such a positive response, the duo started planning their next single release, Feel Alive (2018). Written by The Dreggs and produced by Jordan Power, from Inky Studios in Byron Bay,

Feel Alive was released early 2018 and proved to be the perfect follow-up single to Give Myself To You. The track forms a catchy and fun melody, with a big chorus and a desire to dance. Shortly after its release, Feel Alive found its way onto Triple J, making it The Dreggs’ second song to be aired on the popular radio station.

“… imagine a happy version of Ben Howard & City and Colour…”(Stereofox, 2018)

Feel Alive gives a good insight into yet another punchy, fun ‘foot-tapper’, providing the perfect segue into the release of their Seas Embrace EP, which was released in May of 2018. Toying with a range of sounds and feelings, Seas Embrace entwines Indie-Folk, Roots, Americana, and even a little bit of reggae, to keep that coastal vibe that is The Dreggs.

Since the release of their Seas Embrace EP, The Dreggs have been working on their sound, narrowing their musical scope to a more dynamic style of Folk. In November of 2018, The Dreggs released their single Gold (2018), which landed them a headlining spot at the Agnes Blues & Roots Festival in early 2019 and even further traction.

Additionally, The Dreggs have released yet another single, Just For One Night (2019), which kickstarted their Just For One Night East Coast Tour in early February. With an already incredible start to the year for The Dreggs, the boys have their sights set on the festival scene and broadening their horizons to playing bigger and better shows, as well as traveling to faraway places.

Kicking off the year with a slot at Triple J’s Big Pineapple Festival on the Sunshine Coast, The Dreggs continue to gain momentum in 2019.
