ABOUT SIBO BANGOURA
Born into a musician’s family (Griot) in Conakry, Guinea West Africa, Sibo is one of Australia’s most valued African Percussionists, renowned for his entertaining and interactive teaching style. A highly sought after professional, he has travelled both nationally and internationally for workshops and performances.
Sibo has music and rhythm in his blood, it is a language of his childhood. Traditionally, a Griot is a West African historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet and/or musician responsible for preserving cultural history through music, dance and ceremony and ensuring that it is passed on across many generations.
In his regular classes and workshops, Sibo works alongside students to build an understanding of playing djembe as an instrument, teaching parts of traditional rhythms and staying true to his culture.
