After blitzing Europe, including the iconic Montreux Jazz Festival, KALLIDAD is set to debut previously unheard material from their forthcoming new album when they blitz the hut on Friday 15 November.
Bolstering their trademark acoustics with the use of electric guitar, bass guitar and drum kit, fans old and new are in for two wild sets from one of Australia’s most exciting bands.
“Think Heavy Metal with a touch of thrash, then blend it with Mexican mariachi…If modern rock ‘n roll can trace its roots to the blues, then why not an acoustic metal band that draws heavily on flamenco and mariachi themes.” Paul Syvret, Courier Mail.
Mariachi is a style of Regional Mexican music that dates back to the 18th century and has been recognised by UNESCO as an ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage.’ The origin of the word is allegedly disputed, but one states that it comes from the name of the wood used to make the dance platform.
