So I have been asked to do a write-up about the Rhythm Hut, where do I begin? It all started with a conversation with my friend, Gwen, over coffee  that we should do something exciting to perk up our mundane lives! But what?  I have always loved the drums, all sorts of drums.  After tossing around a few idea about what we can both do, Gwen suggested that we  enquire at The Rhythm Hut as they do various lessons on different instruments.  We chose Djembe at the end of 2014. All we knew of Djembe that it was a type of African drumming and it immediately appealed to us. From the first lesson on we were hooked. The Rhythms was just mesmerising and the beat  so  uplifting!  So every week we looked forward to our lesson with much anticipation and vigour!  Then it was KABOOM, the end of Term performance of all students, which brought nerves and sweaty  palms.  But it was also a buzz as everyone was so encouraging, from the teachers to other students to the audiences.  By the end of the night we were all on such a high!

We did Djembe for another year and then braved ourselves to try Taiko 1 which is Japanese drumming! And boy did we have a ball!  This is our 2nd year of doing Taiko 1 and we still have a buzz after each lesson, not wanting it to end at all. Yes you end up with sore arms at first but who cares when you are having so much fun.   All the teachers have been wonderful and so patient (especially yours truly here who has no musical bone in my body at all).  You make like-minded friends who are all there to have fun and encourage each other.  I had a two Term break and missed it a lot and could not wait to come back to start again. It’s certainly my happy place!
