There has been a lot of talk about giving back at The Rhythm Hut lately. We’ve been having planning meetings with Jake Cassar, Suellen Meilak and the various people involved in Rise Up 2, and this Saturday we’re having an African day where we will donate 50% of the Rhythm Hut profits from the night to The East Africa Famine Appeal.

Poverty, mental health problems, famine, drought, they can all seem so overwhelming, and it’s easy to think that there’s nothing that one person can do to change it. But there is! By joining in to help a cause that you feel passionate about, no matter what it is, one person can make a difference. Even better, YOU can!

It feels good to give back, there’s no doubting that. Some people help out by going to charity events such as the ones we’re holding, or having a stall at the events. Or by putting their extra change into the donation box. Every little bit helps, from those who organise and push these charities to happen to those who share the information to a few friends. If you feel passionate about the causes that we’re involved with, please don’t hesitate to ask us how you can help out. We are always happy to have volunteers at any events (not just charities) and love to help facilitate people’s passion, whether it’s music or art or giving back!

“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” –The Dalai Lama
