dance header
Gabriel Otu is a West African percussionist, singer, professional dancer and teacher. Originally from Ghana he has been dancing and drumming for 30 years and now calls Byron Bay home. He has performed at festivals, events, schools and theatres across Australia and is delighted to be visiting The Rhythm Hut for the first time this August.

African Drumming with Gabriel Otu
Open to all levels Gabriel will teach 3 rhythms in this fun, hands-on 90 minute workshop – Kpologo, Kakatosofa and Yunka. Bring your own Djembe or borrow one from Gabriel and please stay on to drum for the dancers afterwards!

African Dance with Gabriel Otu
Afro-movement is a grounding therapeutic dance of expression accompanied with live drumming for a real African experience. This high-energy dance workshop will have your heart beating with ancient rhythms, your smile beaming from ear to ear and your inner fire ignited with the spirit of Africa! Drummers who don’t want to dance are encouraged to stay and drum for the dancers!

We’ll have a short break between the two workshops – drinks and snacks available for purchase.

Stick around for our community event The 5 Lands Experience in which Gabriel will be performing, from 5pm. Details HERE
