DJEMBE – Tuesday 8-9.15pm

This tDjembe classerm, we’re going back to the roots.

Rather than separate out our djembe classes based on skill level, we’re combining them all together into one massive community drumming experience. The class will be structured to cater for all skill levels, from experts to students who have never touched a drum in their lives. This is an excellent class for anybody interested in joining the many recreational drum circles popping up around Sydney and the Central Coast.

We will learn and practice the basic range of djembe sounds: Tone, slap, and bass. From there, we will put together compositions reminiscent of songs traditionally played in West Africa, layering a foundation of basic beats with more complex rhythms for any students keen to tackle them. At the end of the term, students are invited to play this composition for KaBoom!, our famous student performance spectacular.

The class will be led by Rhythm Hunter Luke Fabila with a fabulous rhythm section made up from superstars of Rhythm Hunters and The Rhythm Hut.
